About Weston B. Gentry

Weston Gentry, MD is a physician who specializes in orthopedic surgery. He diagnoses and treats patients at Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He is also affiliated with Brookwood Baptist Health, serving the Birmingham metro area and surrounding cities. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Alabama Orthopaedic Society. He is especially interested in orthopaedic sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Gentry earned his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN in 2018. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR in 2023. He also completed an orthopaedic sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, MS in 2024. During his training, Dr Gentry has cared for athletes at multiple levels of competition and served as the team physician for Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, MS, and assisted with the sports medicine teams for the University of Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Belhaven University. He also served on the medical team for the Sanderson Farms PGA Golf tournament in Jackson, MS.

Dr. Gentry is a native of Nashville, TN. He enjoys spending time with his wife, baby girl and chocolate lab. His hobbies include duck hunting, fishing, University of Tennessee athletics and cooking BBQ.
